Packing and Moving Your Glass Items

One of the chief worries people have when moving is that their glass items such as drinkware, picture frames, and vases will break. Taking extra time to pack these things carefully can ensure that nothing gets damaged or broken in transit, and you’ll be able to rest easy knowing that everything is padded and protected. At Billy Goat Moving in Fort Collins, our experienced team can help you pack and transport your fragile glass, and we’ll take extra care when loading and unloading your boxes.

GLASS SERVINGWARE

Packing your kitchen can often take the most time, simply because there are so many small items to put into boxes. You have bowls, plates, and drinkware that need to be wrapped individually, and you want to be sure each one is packed appropriately. It can be worthwhile to find some plate and bowl boxes that are shaped properly so you can wrap and stack each dish separately. Begin by wrapping each plate and bowl in bubble wrap and place paper or cardboard between each one. You’ll want to be sure you don’t have too many stacked in a box, as that can put a lot of weight on the dishes in the bottom.

PICTURE FRAMES

The last thing you want when you get to your new house is to open a box and find that all your picture frames are cracked. While you can move the photo to another frame, you may not feel like going to the store and buying new frames. If you wrap the frames in packing paper and put some padding between each one, you can protect them from damage. Be sure not to stack frames on top of each other, but rather line them up side by side in a box, and don’t put anything heavy on top of them.

VASES AND LAMPS

If you have decorative vases or antique lamps that you intend on moving, take the time to wrap them with the proper packing material. Towels and small blankets can be great for padding inside boxes, but they’re not always the best for wrapping fragile items. A person can lose their grip on a towel, causing the vase or lamp to fall out the bottom, and that’s why bubble wrap and packing paper are better choices. It may take a few layers, but you’ll know that your glass items are secure.

UNUSUAL GLASS ITEMS

You may have pieces of artwork or one-of-a-kind glass items that don’t fit into any of the categories above. It may be necessary to create a makeshift packing solution for these items, and you’ll want to be sure that the entire object is secure. If it has handles or protruding glass pieces, make sure these are padded so they don’t catch on anything or are accidentally broken by something being placed on top of them.

With our packing and moving services, you can feel confident that your belongings are being handled with care. We will always treat your items with respect, and we know how to pack and pad every glass object in your home.
